Naval Architecture

Ship building dates back to ancient times. The waters of the world continue to carry goods worldwide and modern ship builders are involved in the construction of freighters, container ships, tankers, passenger ships, war ships as well as dockyards, oil platforms, loading mechanism etc on the coast and ports. Naval Architecture is a degree course of 4 year duration offered only in a few engineering colleges. Admission is through entrance tests. Students with maths, physics and chemistry at the +2 level can appear for the entrance tests. After Class XII (PCM): The Indian Navy recruits candidates for a naval architecture course through the Technical cadet only on the basis of marks. Gra-duate engineers in Naval architecture/mechanical/aeronautical/ civil/metallurgical engineering branch-es are recruited into the navy through direct entry.
