Banking Services

Banking Services

There are different types of banks such as the nationa-lised banks, scheduled banks, foreign banks, private sector banks etc.The nationalised banks account for over 80% of the commercial banking industry in the country. With the abolition of the Banking Service Recruitment Board, nationalised banks now conduct their own examinations to select banking personnel.

Selection to SBI
The advertisement for the written examination appears in November-December and the examinations are usually held in April next.

Selection to other Nationalised Banks
The advertisement for the Test appears in August-September and the examination is held early next year.

Eligibility for Probationary Officers
Graduates between the age of 21-30 years can write the com-petitive examination. Those who qualify the competitive exami-nation are invited for the interview.

Examination

The Descriptive Test written either in English or Hindi consists of short questions on a given situation.
Interview: The Interview evaluates the personality, commu-nication skills and general awareness of the candidate.
The selected person joins the bank as a Probationary Officer for 2 years after which he becomes a regular staff member.
Selection of other subsidiary staff: The clerical staff in Banks are also selected on the basis of an All India Entrance Test and Interview. Typists and Stenographers will be tested for proficiency and skill in their respective trades. Age is between 21 and 28 years.
Private Sector and Foreign Banks: Get their middle management level employees from those already experienced in the Banking sector. The entry level management jobs are filled through campus selection organised in reputed management colleges. Recruitment to Junior level jobs are done on the basis of written test and in-terview. The candidate should be a graduate with computer profi-ciency. There is no set pattern for selection to private sector banks. Selection is usually on the basis of written test and interview.
